Blog Post 7- final project outline

Final Project Outline
Haley Hounshell, Tyler Miles, Billy Kelty, Katie Marshall

Guidelines to achieve goals: our group has both a GroupMe and a group text message, however, we use the group text message the most and that is how we will stay in touch.
-       -We have already planned to meet Monday during WRD’s scheduled class time

Week 11
-       -Monday, we will meet during the scheduled class time to go over the brief outline of this schedule as well as to complete the paper we are presenting to you in our meeting on Wednesday.
-      - Later in the week (we will determine the day when we meet Monday) we will meet to work on completing two sections of the website.
-       -We will also plan on this day a certain time to meet each week

Week 12
-       -This week we will meet on our designated day and begin (if we haven’t already) the actual research.
-       -We will continue this in class when we have time to work on the project as well.
-      - A goal by the end of this week is to have a final rough draft of our project
-       -When we meet this week, we will also assign roles to each person in the group so we each have something to be responsible for and the work load is equally spread.

Week 13
-       -After the in-class group conferences with you, when we meet this week we will use the information you gave us to revise our project and fix any major withstanding issues before we bring a shareable version of a complete draft of our final project to class.
-       -We will also use the information gained through the peer revision workshop to tweak our project.

Week 14
-       -This week we will create a revision plan for our project and add any last details we feel necessary. This week will mainly be used for polishing the final draft of our project before the final presentation.
-       We will also do any last research necessary and add it to our project.

Week 15
-       -This week we will meet before we present our project to practice our actual presentation.

-       -Lastly, we will give our final presentation.

Blog Post 6

A rough outline of how the presentation will go is it will be split up into four parts with each of us having a separate piece to say. Our official topic is how overuse of social media has negatively affected the millennial generation. The presentation will be split into the following: overuse of social media, challenges that teens have taken part in, our generation versus ones before us, and solutions. My section is the overuse of social media and what I will briefly talk about is both the negative and positive influences of social media in today’s society (with a heavier focus on the negative side.) I will discuss the pressure that the youth put on themselves to get the “perfect photo” and a certain amount of likes on a photo. The youth compare themselves to others on social media to an extreme degree. However, social media can also be used to connect individuals throughout the world, and news is spread throughout the world today faster than ever. There are several more topics to argue for both sides that I will delve slightly deeper into when I present.

Blog Post 5

My groups purpose for this project is to inform an audience of a major issue of public concern (one that is in fact taking the lives of some children) and is majorly impacting parents, children, and the company of Tide as a whole. However, what we need to come up with is a solution better than parents simply telling their children to stay away from Tide pods. My group needs to do some brainstorming together, but as of now I think a major beneficial change that Tide could use is to make the pods look less “appealing.” (it still blows me away that this is such an issue) but perhaps the company could not use such bright, vibrant colors in the packaging. Additionally, maybe Tide could make them to where they don’t pop open, because I think that is a factor that children like as well. I know that Tide makes the pods look this way so we will buy them, but if that has backfired to a point of a loss in sales they may want to reconsider their packaging. In all honesty, Tide could change the appearance of the pods, but I think this topic is a good leeway into a bigger issue here, which is what youth is doing in today’s society to be considered “cool.” It seems each year the trends are becoming more and more dangerous. For example, the cinnamon challenge, and salt and ice challenge that preceded the Tide pod challenge. I am not sure if it is an influence of society as a whole that is causing this shift towards danger, or an actual change in the minds of the youth. Regardless I think this would be an interesting idea to research deeper into.
